Renault Trucks on display at the Hungaroring!

05/07/2011

Renault Trucks took advantage of the World Series by Renault meeting in Hungary to display its best-known models in the village at the Hungaroring. Spectators interested in this type of vehicle could see a wide selection of trucks ranging from those used by firemen to race transporters.

“Our make is aimed at professionals, but we also like to let the general public see these models,” explains Réka Vancsodi, the Central European marketing manager for Renault Trucks. “These lorries are part of our daily life, and Renault Trucks aim to provide people with the right solutions in their everyday activities. They are packed with technology; that’s what surprises the World Series by Renault spectators the most when they climb aboard our models. They can see to what extent we’re involved in the improvement of their daily life through the quality of our vehicles.”

So it seemed obvious for Renault Trucks to ally itself with the World Series by Renault, which attracted 130 000 spectators last weekend.”We take advantage of the event to make ourselves known and show off the qualities of our vehicles. But we also provide different kinds of entertainment in the World Series by Renault village,” continues Réka. In addition to climbing on board the lorries, some spectators who came to admire the Renault Trucks models got into a cradle that was then elevated to give them a panoramic view of the Hungaroring and its surroundings.

Renault Trucks also took part in the on-track entertainment as two Renault Premium Racing trucks of over 1100 bhp put on a show on several occasions during the weekend. The make won the 2010 European Championship thanks to the Renault Trucks – MKR Technology team, and these very powerful machines (see technical details) amazed the public during their spectacular road shows! The make’s VIP guests were given thrilling track baptisms in them. “It’s the first time trucks have run on the Hungaroring,” underlined Vancsodi.

While the finger is often pointed at lorries because of their environmental impact, Renault Trucks took advantage of the Hungaroring event to reaffirm its position in terms of energy saving. “We’re continuing our efforts to reduce fuel consumption,” explains Réka. “We’re also taking initiatives like the Optifuel Solution, a programme aimed at companies to help them manage their fleet of lorries in an ecological and economic fashion. For urban use we also have a range of hybrid vehicles.”

Renault Trucks is pursuing this path by working on the RENOTER project whose aim is to recuperate the heat from the exhaust gases and convert it into energy thanks to thermal electricity. Renault Trucks’ efforts in the area of fuel economy and technological innovation were rewarded during the recent 16th European Transport Prize Giving in Madrid.
