TDS Racing as ambitious as ever

After having won all the titles on offer in the 2010 Eurocup Mégane Trophy (teams, drivers, gentlemen drivers), TDS Racing will be looking to repeat its clean sweep this season.

Nick Catsburg and Pierre Thiriet, who finished first and second in the 2010 overall standings, may no longer be there, but they have made way for drivers who are just as ambitious. The French team will be entering four Mégane Trophy cars, to be driven by the Dutchmen Bas Schothorst, Jeroen Schothorst and Wim Beelen and the Belgian David Dermont.

David Dermont's car will be running in the colours of PC Tools. The developer of security and performance software is teaming up with the World Series by Renault as a partner of TDS Racing.

During pre-season testing, Bas Schothorst showed that he is performing well and proved that he has got what it takes to assume the mantle of leader of the TDS Racing team. If he wants to follow in Nick Catsburg's footsteps and see his name go into the history books, he will need to start by winning his first race in Eurocup Mégane Trohy. Among the drivers out to stop him are Oregon Team's Stefano Comini and Niccolo Nalio, as well as members of the Boutsen Energy Racing team.

It is not going to be easy for TDS Racing to realize its ambitions, but Xavier Combet, team manager, is pretty confident that they can do just that. "We have established some new partnerships to put together a good project with objectives which are even more ambitious than before. The team has now developed further and is in a better position than ever to contend for the title. We have the drivers it takes to show we are competitive. With our commitment to the Le Mans Series in parallel to our Eurocup Mégane Trophy programme, we are going into a season which will be decisive for us. Our team is growing and we have everything we need to excel and put in a fine season in 2011."

QUESTION ABOUT SILVERSTONE In 2012 Renault has expanded World Series by Renault to a new country with Russia appearing in the calendar for the first time. As Renault UK returned to the Festival of Speed at Goodwood this year and, as the Olympic Games were being held, it was decided to remove the UK event from the World Series by Renault calendar for 2012. Fans of Renault racing can still see the powerful Formula Renault 3.5 in action at Silverstone in August (25 - 26) where they will be racing during the World Endurance Championships. Tickets for this event can be purchased here http://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/FIA-World-Endurance-Championship/.
