The World Series by Renault has made its name thanks to its races. In addition, the shows and entertainment it provides enable all the spectators to have a good time in Renault’s universe of motor sport. This year the organizers spared no effort to put on a thrilling action-packed on-track spectacle as well as high-quality shows in the Renault Village.

From Motorland Aragon to Barcelona and all the other circuits visited in between by the World Series by Renault, the 2011 season was a huge success with a total of 538 000 spectators attending the seven meetings. The ones that attracted the biggest crowds were the Hungaroring (130 000) and Silverstone (120 000). In addition to the on-track action provided by the drivers, the public could enjoy numerous forms of entertainment.

On track the Jean Ragnotti Show was one of the most popular as the former winner of the Monte Carlo Rally delighted the crowd with his doughnuts in his Renault 5 Maxi Turbo. The Renault Sport Show, constantly updated throughout the year, received a fantastic welcome in Barcelona while the Lotus Renault GP Show gave people the opportunity to see the F1 car in action on the circuit in the hands of, among other, Romain Grosjean, Nicolas Prost and Bruno Senna.

Various activities were on hand in the Village beginning with the display of cars. Numerous Renaults were on show including racing cars (FR 3.5, FR 2.0, the Mégane Trophy, Clio Cup, Twingo R1, Clio R3 and Mégane N4) as well as vehicles from Renault Design (the Twizzy, Fluence Z.E, Kangoo Z.E and Dezir Concept cars). The Dezir and Twizzy took to the track on the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit.

The Renault Sport cars, the Mégane R.S, Clio R.S, Mégane GT coupe, Twingo Gordini and Clio Gordini, were also on display at these events. The Mégane R.S Trophy was presented at the Nürburgring where it was the main attraction because of its record lap on the Nordschleife: this made it one of the most popular cars in the Renault Sport tent.

The historic cars also met with a lot of success and the spectators were able to get up close to the Dauphine Electrique, the R4 Monte Carlo, the R12, R5 Turbo Philipps and the Etoile Filante.

In addition to the entertainment, spectators were able to get behind the wheel thanks to dozens of simulators that enabled young and old alike to do virtual laps of the track in F1s in the Lotus Renault GP colours. The most daring were able to test their skills in the Pit Stop Challenge by changing wheels on a single-seater.

Youngsters were able to try their hand at motor sport for the first time by racing on the Kids Circuit in karts. Children’s games also enabled the youngest kids to have fun away from the track. Depending on the meetings it was also possible to take a ride on the Big Wheel, drive bumper cars and take advantage of a make-up stand.

The success of the 2011 season is an endorsement by the spectators of these fast, free and fun events. Even if the weather didn’t always cooperate the spectators turned up in large numbers in the grandstands and in the Renault Village.

In 2012, the World Series by Renault will be back for its eighth season, and its desire to satisfy the lovers of Renault and motor sport will be stronger than ever!
