New acts for the Renault Sport Show

20/06/2011

The Renault Sport Show, the centerpiece of the World Series by Renault, provides the public with an on-track action-packed show thanks to the qualities of the Mégane R.S. and the talent of professional drivers. They do a whole raft of acrobatics in their Mégane RSs including half-doughnuts, controlled skids, 360° spins, handbrake turns, reversing etc. At the Nürburgring event, the show has added more variety to its acts, including a hostess firing T-shirts from a canon, lighting flares and new acrobatics on the track.

“We keep trying to add innovations to the show,” explains Julien Piguet, the manager/coordinator of the Renault Sport Show, and driver of one of the four Mégane R.Ss. “We’ve got the big advantage of having a great car with 250 bhp on tap, which the spectators love. People often come to see it in our garage. They’re very happy when they find out it’s a 100% series production Mégane. We highlight the dynamic qualities of the car by putting on a fun show for the public, and we introduce new acrobatics on a regular basis.”

The public is the focal point of the Renault Sport Show, which undergoes permanent evolution. “We change the decoration of the car, and we play on the colours with our outfits, the flares and the flags. We want to share things fully with the spectators, which is why we have a hostess fire T-shirts from a canon at key moments during the show.”

The show also needs talented drivers at the wheel: “Frédéric Johias, Nicolas Navarro, Sébastien Seveau and I are all professional drivers. Nobody should try and do what we do with the Mégane R.S. outside a track environment. To carry out these acrobatics accurately requires specific qualities. We also do race simulations in Mégane R.Ss for VIPs during the meetings. We do around one thousand track baptisms per year, which allow us to demonstrate all the qualities of the leading car in the Renault Sport range.”
