Mégane R.S., the Renault Sport brand leader

In addition to the various races, the World Series by Renault also provides an opportunity to spend a weekend in the world of the French vehicle manufacturer. Historic, racing (circuit and rally) and series production cars are on display, as well as the cars in the Renault Sport range.

The Renault Sport Mégane, vaunted for its multiple qualities, holds pride of place in the heart of the display. The car on show in the village was very popular with the German public. “We adapt our Renault Sport exhibition range to the taste of the people in the country we visit,” explains Gilles Mériadec, the Renault Sport sales manager for Europe; “The Mégane R.S. was in exactly the right place as well as our Gordini range (Clio, Twingo, Wind), as the Germans appreciate luxury and top of the range cars.”

In addition, the Nürburgring weekend was launched by the successful record attempt on the Nordschleife. “To launch our limited series Mégane R.S. Trophy, we wanted to make a big impact, all the more so as we were presenting the car to the press. We already hold the record for the Nördschleife in series production, as the R.26.R’s record has never been broken. Our 265 bhp Mégane R.S. Trophy managed to beat it on our first attempt (find out more). Beating such a record in Germany, a country renowned for its powerful cars, is an excellent way to launch the Mégane R.S. Trophy.”

The Mégane R.S. Trophy (picture) was admired all weekend in the Renault village. “Even if we don’t sell cars on the spot, we want to make people aware of our Renault Sport range. The World Series by Renault is a family outing, and many spectators see our models for the first time. It’s not only for Renault clients. We’re targeting a wider public who come to this race meeting and take advantage of it to have a look at our cars.”

While Renault has built its image on the reliability and cost capping of its family models, the general public gets to know the Renault Sport range during the World Series by Renault meetings. “Besides the feedback we get at the events, the exhibition of the R.S. range helps change our image de marque in the eyes of certain people: they realize that we sell chic, elegant sporty models. In the country of German cars, it sends out a strong message!”
